Here’s what Alfredo had to say about it.
“This is a pandemic mix. It’s been sitting privately on Soundcloud since 2020. I originally recorded this for Sacha as a Holiday gift at a time when the pandemic hadn’t allowed us to see each other. Going out dancing was out of the question and life in general was one stressful day after another. A lot had changed in the world and we were constantly reminded of just how messed up things are in society. Honestly, for months it was really hard to listen to any music at all, never mind attempt to DJ.
But doing this mix for her helped me get out of a funk. It finally got me to listen to music and enjoy the process again. Some of the blends in this mix have become signature segments in my sets, and although it’s very different from what people knew me to play, it is very much me. I dug into my past, grabbed songs that had captured me in recent times, and included things that you wouldn't think could go well together but blended like alchemy.
I wanted this to sound the closest to a night out. The opening set to a night we could not have. Thankfully that's changed. Hope you enjoy it.”
